A Legacy of Building Utah
Howard Schmidt has spent more than 45 years building homes and residential communities throughout Utah. Today, Cove Developments continues that legacy with a focus on residential land development — helping create neighborhoods from the ground up.
The name Cove has deep roots in our family's history. In the 1980s, Howard and his brother Dave built the Willow Cove Apartments on their father's farm. Years later, Howard partnered with Ellis Ivory to develop Coventry Cove. Today, Cove Developments carries that legacy forward while continuing to build communities across Utah.

Howard has spent more than 45 years helping shape communities throughout Utah and Nevada. From building over 1,000 homes to developing apartment communities and residential neighborhoods, Howard has dedicated his career to creating places where families can put down roots. Today, he continues that work through Cove Developments, focusing on land acquisition, entitlements, and lasting relationships with landowners, cities, and development partners.
Garrett Schmidt
Development Partner
Garrett earned his bachelor's degree in Marketing before completing the Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) program at the University of Utah. As part of the Cove Developments team, Garrett is involved throughout the entire development process — from identifying and acquiring land to entitlements, construction, and the sale of finished lots. His combination of formal education and hands-on experience allows him to help guide projects from the earliest planning stages through completion.

Brett is a trusted development partner who works alongside Cove Developments on many of our projects. Through his company, Lovell Development Group, Brett has been involved in a wide range of residential developments across Utah and brings years of experience in land acquisition, entitlements, and land development. We value the opportunity to work together and share the same commitment to creating quality neighborhoods while building lasting relationships with landowners and the communities we serve.
Jordan Taylor
Development Partner
Jordan has been building homes for more than 15 years, working alongside Howard Schmidt through Braemar Co. and developing a strong foundation in residential construction. With a sharp eye for quality and attention to detail, Jordan continues to build homes while also focusing on land development. Over the past decade, he has played a key role in many of Cove Developments' projects, helping guide communities from planning through construction.
