Cove Developments is a father and son building neighborhoods together. Here's where the company came from, and why it's called what it's called.
From Braemar to Cove
For decades, Howard Schmidt built homes under the name Braemar Co. When his son Garrett joined the business, the two of them relaunched it as Cove Developments. Same experience, same relationships, but with a name that says what the company actually is now: family-owned, run by a father and son who work together every day.
Why "Cove"
In the 1980s, Howard and his brother Dave built the Willow Cove apartments on their father's farm. Willow Cove still sits beside the home Howard grew up in. It remembers his father, and it remembers Dave, who has since passed away.
Years later, Howard built Coventry Cove with Ellis Ivory. Cove Developments honors both projects, and the people behind them.
The long road here
Howard grew up farming, and the work ethic stuck. Over his career he has built more than 1,000 homes in Elko, Nevada, some of them back in the early days of Ivory Homes, and he's still part of developments there today. Along the way he built up nearly 600 apartment units that he still owns.
That history is why cities trust him, why landowners take his calls, and why he answers theirs.
Working together
Today Howard and Garrett run Cove Developments side by side. Howard brings the building experience and the city relationships. Garrett brings marketing, people, and a next-generation view of what a neighborhood should be.
Brett Level hunts for new land. Jordan Taylor, Garrett's brother-in-law, runs construction; he built homes alongside Howard for the better part of two decades. It's a small team on purpose. When you call, you get one of us.
